The First Home Owner Grant Scheme (FHOGS), which went into effect on July 1, 2000, is a nationwide scheme, funded by the states and territories and governed under their own laws.
In New South Wales, it is fully funded by the NSW Government and managed by the Office of State Revenue (OSR).
As of January 1, 2016, the first homeowner grant in New South Wales is $10,000. If your transaction occurred before this date, you would be eligible for a grant of $15,000. The first home you purchase must also be a new property, or you may be ineligible.
